FTW
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take out a large dead bush that your wife wants to remove. While I didn’t get the request in quite that Mission Impossible format, this was the challenge, and challenge accepted.
However, with axe and shovel in hand, I was certainly questioning if I was going to be able to fulfill this request.
Part of being in physical shape should be the ability to do physical work. When I’m tasked with a test of my capabilities, it’s a great benchmark for me to see if I’m lacking somewhere in my training.
Whether it is chopping down a tree, spending the day hauling things, having to run a distance or some other physical challenge, I think that these are good tests to see if I am Fit To Work (FTW) or if there is some aspect of my training that needs attention.
Even though daily tasks might not include physical labor (and I have so much respect for those who this is the daily demand), one of our goals should be to meet those demands. If not, then this is an indicator of the need to incorporate another aspect into the training program.
I’m happy to say I did conquer this bush (man those things have serious roots..) and didn’t self-destruct in the process.
