CELEBRATE
The common thing about special occasions is that they are special! One of the reasons that they are special is that they don't occur frequently. Because of this, celebration is in order.
Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, holidays and the like all qualify. Because they don't occur often, I like to employ the 90/10 rule when it comes to nutrition.
What this means is if you're nailing your nutrition ninety percent of the time, these are the moments to relax and enjoy. Two expectations to this rule is if someone is deep into contest prep or if they find themselves with a “special occasion” every week.
By adhering to this rule, you earn yourself these special occasions, and then get right back on the horse.
