FITNESS PERSONALITY
I get distracted easily. Back in grade school, I heard this constantly from my teachers. While I have learned to use this as a strength I have also had to put tools and processes in place to manage my personality type (like the journal shown in this picture).
At the same time, we all know individuals who have, what I would call, an addictive personality. On the other end of the focus spectrum, they are narrow and can be to a fault; focused on one single thing, almost to the point of obsession.
When it comes to health and fitness, both of these personality types can be a strength but also need to be managed differently.
With a distracted personality, implementing habits to stay focused on the goal is imperative. Structured training, nutrition tracking, planning sessions, regular reporting and accountability are all tools that can be effective to stay consistent.
For those who have more of an addictive personality, clarifying the goals, long term strategic planning with short term progress checks, training, and recovery feedback can assist to make sure the path is on the right track and focused on the proper things.
Most of us have aspects of both and can be harnessed as a superpower when managed
correctly. The important aspect is to recognize and put the proper tools in place to exploit our
inner force.
