HANG ON

When you watch those crazy American ninja warrior competitions, what is the thing that often fails? Well, if they aren’t missing a jump and landing in the water, it is often their grip.

Having a strong grip does more than just help you carry all the groceries in on one trip (don’t lie, we all try to do that lol.)

If you can’t hang onto a bar, dumbbell or handle, certainly you’re not going to be able to lift the weight. Additionally, if you can hold on, but all your focus is trying to do so, there will be lowered concentration to put towards the muscle group being worked.

Currently I’m on a pullup mission. My goal is to get 20 strict pull ups in a row. While I’m certainly focused on the supporting muscles, I’m also focusing on making sure my grip is on point.

While there are accessories you can use like straps (and there is certainly a benefit to using when necessary) you can never go wrong with improving your grip, even if your goal isn’t to fling yourself across monkey bars on national TV.
