HEAVY VS LIGHT
Which is more important, going a bit lighter to maintain a solid mind/muscle connection or push the big weights for more power/strength?
First, let me define mind muscle connection. This is when you feel the muscles move the weight in a given exercise. Typically it is a load that is less than max effort. The ultimate example of this would be flexing a muscle.
Between the two, certainly there is a balance (don't want to train with just light weights) but on the other end, not looking to throw up big weights and not feel the muscles work.
For me, my answer to this is taking an honest assessment with myself and see if I 'deserve' to increase the weight. Did I hit the rep goal? Yes, but did I feel the contraction sufficient to own the weight? These are the questions I ask myself and if so, I increase the load.
