MENTAL TRAINING
We’ve all heard the term “runners high”. This is the feeling of euphoria after an extended bout of running. While there are many who would argue that the pain and effort associated with running outweigh this feeling, there’s no doubt it exists and the best news is that it isn’t exclusive to running.
This feeling is the result of the release of the endorphin dopamine. Released during exercise, this neurotransmitter has been called the “feel good” hormone. Appropriately named, besides the benefits physically of training, we get physiological benefits as well.
When we do weight training, the muscular system, metabolism, endocrine, and as above, mental aspects that make training a no brainer (no pun intended) on why it’s so important. When some refer to training as their therapy, they are very much correct in that statement.
To maximize this, allow yourself to be fully engaged with your workouts. Push out negative energy, put on some positive music or a podcast and take in those good vibes to match the bicep gain with the brain.
