VARIETY PACK
I'm a self proclaimed chicken and rice survivor. Many years ago I didn't want to deal with trying anything too hard when it came to meal prep and I didn't want to put in the time to discover my other options. Needless to say, it took many years before I could revisit chicken.
Just like there are extreme Foodies, there are extreme Rinse and Repeat eaters. The nice thing with flexible nutrition is that both work. That being said, if you find yourself stuck on the same old food, I think you run the risk of getting derailed due to boredom or if someone happens to wave that food you haven't tried in front of you and you lose your willpower.
To that end, I want to provide you with a simple list of food alternatives to perhaps expand your ideas on what I would call the basics:
- Oatmeal/breakfast carb options: Bread, bagel, cereal, fruit, waffle, pancakes
- Rice/lunch carb options: Tortilla, white potato, sweet potato, bread
- Chicken/protein options: Beef, pork, salmon, turkey, sardines, HP greek yogurt, tuna, eggs
* Add different sauces/spices: Hot sauce, soy sauce, mustards, Walden Farms
One other tip is to simply tour the grocery store and see what's available. Often it will surprise you by finding something you never even thought of. If you have other ideas to add to the list, please share in the comments below?
